How is iDSL different
from other DSL services?
IDSL uses Digital Subsciber Line (DSL) technology only within buildings
and other vertical structures. This eliminates signal degradation
due to distance and ensures subscribers get quality service every
time.
So - how much does it
cost?
The basic iDSL service costs P2,980.00. For users requiring more
bandwidth and added features, there are several iDSL
packages to suit your needs. Contact your BellTel representative
for details. Special packages are also available for users with
significant monthly IDD and NDD volume.
Can iDSL service be
connected to my laptop?
Yes, as long as the laptop meets the minimum computer system requirements.
The laptop must also have a PCMCIA Network Adapter installed.
Should I leave my DSL
modem on all the time?
Yes. The DSL modem is best when left on at all times. Feel free
to turn off your computer, but keep the cable modem power ON all
the time. However, as with any electrical appliance, it should be
unplugged under certain conditions, such as extreme weather.
Will iDSL tie up my
phone line?
DSL uses a separate line from your existing phone line and will
not degrade the voice quality of you telephone.
Am I safe on iDSL?
Since iDSL Internet is an "always on" connection, it is
strongly recommended that you use a Internet Firewall for your protection
as well as an Anti-Virus Program.
Does Belltel provide
Dial-Up Service?
Yes, BellTel does provide Dial-Up Internet access services.
What kinds of speeds
should I be getting?
On average, iDSL subscribers can expect through put of between 80
to 150 Kbps. These speeds can increase to upwards of 256Kbps at
times of off-peak usage. (e.g. Late a night or early morning)
How can I test my speed?
To test the effective speed the network you can use the bandwidth
meter on BellTel’s
website or you can use any of the following third party bandwidth
tests:

Norton
Etc..

technical support issues?
You can call BellTel technical support at 6800-HELP they are available
24/7
I want to run an FTP,
E-Mail, etc. Server. Can I do this on iDSL?
According to the Terms of Service and BellTel’s acceptable
use policy, you cannot run an Internet accessible server on an iDSL
service.
You may run a server on your Home LAN because Belltel cannot control
what goes on inside YOUR Network
Are the I.P. addresses
static or dynamic?
IP Addresses are public static IP’s. Additional IP addresses
can be obtained at an additional cost.
Is IDSL email accessible
over the web
Yes, you can access your iDSL email via the world wide web through
iDSL’s website or through this link
What are my POP3 and
SMTP e-mail server names?

What is the Mail Quota
for IDSL Service?
Maximum mailbox space provided per iDSL subscriber is 5MB additional
mail box space can be requested with an additional monthly fee.
How many computers
can I connect to a single iDSL subscription?
An iDSL ProLite service has enough Internet bandwidth for up to
two personal computers. Premium services have more bandwidth and
can support more simultaneous sessions. Should you want to connect
the service to your network you would need a DSL Router or a proxy
server.
Does the phone that
comes with certain iDSL packages use VoIP?
Yes, iDSL is one of the first commercial applications of Voice over
IP technology (VoIP). VoIP technology is used only between the subscriber
an the BellTel central office and is exactly the same quality as
conventional circuit switched voice, if no better.
What digital phone
features come with iDSL phone services?
All iDSL phones come standard with full digital features FREE of
charge. These are; caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, call
conferencing and call barring. |
